CBD oil dallo sport al benessere, ecco la guida per l'utilizzo

CBD oil is a strong ally for psychophysical wellbeing and it has been used for years outside the medical and scientific field for regaining balance and for treating certain conditions strictly related to sports. Here we explain what CBD oil is and offer a practical guide to its use.

What do we intend for CBD oil?

CBD or cannabidiol is a natural chemical substance which can be found in high quantities in Cannabis Sativa. This cannabinoid has no psychotropic effect, but, thanks to its interaction with our endocannabinoid system, it’s a great ally for our body.

CBD oil, consequently, is an oil containing – in variable quantities and usually declared in percentage – cannabidiol derived from the Cannabis plant. Once extracted, the oil is diluted in another liquid (such as olive oil or coconut oil) to enhance its bioavailability and provide products with different concentrations according to different needs.

CBD oil benefits

CBD (and consequently cannabidiol-based oil) has been used in the medical and therapeutic field in treating many different conditions and symptoms for years: it’s used, for example, in chronic pain, in limiting chemotherapy side effects, in reducing anxiety, stress, inflammation and insomnia. Of particular interest for research is also its positive influence on neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson and Alzheimer.

Besides its medical benefits, CBD oil works really well for psychological balance and for the general body’s wellbeing, so it is used more and more frequently in the world of sport.

Here we provide some examples and suggestions for its use.

CBD oil benefits on the psychological balance

CBD oil is great in reducing anxiety, stress and insomnia, three conditions usually correlated to each other. To prove this, many studies conducted in the last ten years confirm the beneficial effect of cannabidiol on the body and, in particular, on psychological health.

One of the most recent researches dates to 2021. Published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine, the study shows how CBD helps, safely and effectively, limit the body’s response to stress, reducing as well its symptoms (anxiety, fear, depression, burnout).

In these cases, CBD oil can be taken orally (through capsules, for example) and sublingually.

A few drops are enough – the number varies based on the concentration of cannabidiol – to enjoy a calming and relaxing effect and help with sleep.

CBD oil for body’s wellbeing

Other than on the mind, CBD has an important positive influence on the body thanks to its anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, pain-relief properties. It can be used, in fact, in reducing pain caused by arthritis, muscular and joint conditions due to injury.

Not only, the same properties are very useful for skin and hair care, as explained in the article on Cannabis cosmetics. Cosmetics based on CBD help fight acne and other inflammatory conditions, reduce sebum production (on the scalp too) and counteract skin’s ageing. A great ally in one’s beauty routine.

One last suggestion: CBD oil can be used to reduce eye circles, just a few drops applied on the under eye area to notice an improvement.

CBD oil in sports

The benefits on mind and body of CBD oil make it useful in sports, where the product is used to reduce inflammation and muscular conditions, but also to manage anxiety and stress coming from competing or traumatic episodes. In these cases CBD oil can be taken orally or sublingually or topically, pure or in creams or similar products.

Thanks to the modulatory action of anti-inflammatory cytokines, CBD and its oil help to promote a faster physical recovery allowing athletes to return to training sooner.
