PLANT RAW MATERIAL : Biomass of leaves of Cannabis sativa l. grown indoors in Italy. Cannabis sativa l. (botanical name for hemp) is a plant species belonging to the cannabinaceae family, the same family to which hops, order of urticals, belongs. It is a spring-summer annual cycle plant, which can be grown well in the Italian climate. The cannabis plant is a shrub with an erect, angular stem, growing up to seven meters in height, with opposite, lance-shaped leaves.

The taproot system can reach two meters deep under favorable conditions, providing the plant with stability and strength. The Kompolti variety is a Hungarian dioecious variety, selected by geneticist Professor Bocsa. It was obtained through the combination of Hungarian, Chinese and probably Italian hemp and is characterized by adaptability to different climates and remarkable vegetative capacity. Originally its genetics were selected to produce biomass, but its production is also satisfactory in terms of quantity of seeds and inflorescences.

EXTRACTION TECHNOLOGY: Industrial application of extraction by CO2 in the supercritical state. This technology makes it possible to obtain different values in the density of the process fluid due to the high pressure exerted directly on the fluid itself (CO2), which becomes, in the supercritical state, an absolutely nontoxic solvent. The fluid is continuously recycled within the same process from the time it is brought to the gaseous state and released from the raw material. The 'application is therefore compatible with environmental requirements: CO2 being an inert, nontoxic and nonflammable gas, once returned to the gaseous state, leaves no trace in the extract. This application therefore allows a significant reduction in the economic impact generated by process, post-process and environmental costs (e.g., savings on solvent removal, economies for reuse of spent biomass as suitable secondary materials for new uses).

FLUIDODIPROCESS: CO2 (carbon dioxide) in the supercritical state that is intermediate state between the gaseous and liquid states. The CO2, "captured" in the environment, is reused and recirculated within the same process, achieving not only significant solvent savings but also a neutral environmental balance: as much CO2is withdrawn from the environment , as is put back after it is used.
